In memory of “Hammond Lane”, also known affectionately as “Richard” or “Dik”, a cherished member of the Wyong community. Trained by Jeff Englebrecht, Hammond Lane passed away peacefully in his mummy’s lap after a tragic paddock accident.
Emma, Hammond’s owner and companion, shares her heartfelt tribute:
“I’ve had the privilege and pleasure of working with Hammond at the track, being his strapper, and then bringing him home to retire. Hammond and I shared an incredible bond and relationship, both with matching personalities, inseparable.
You’ve taught me how to be strong and fight for what you love and believe in. Our journey together is something straight out of a movie, truly incredible!
I’m absolutely gutted we had to say our goodbyes, but I suppose we never really say goodbye because when my time comes, I’ll see you again on the other side. My cheeky, sweet, kind, beautiful boy, I’ll never forget you. May your legend live on, and your name never be forgotten.
