Today, with heavy hearts, we bid farewell to the very loved “Diesel,” a cherished companion to Mat, Eva, and Andrew. It has been a profound honour to support you during this time of sorrow. A heartfelt thank you to
Moonee Beach Veterinary Surgery for their compassion during Diesel’s final moments on this earth.
Diesel’s owner, Eva, shares the following message.
Thank you Harbourside Pet Cremations for the service you provided to us on one of the saddest days we have felt.
We rescued Diesel at the approximate age of 5 years from a neglected home and from the first day of meeting him we knew we had a special friend and companion dog for our autistic son who is nonverbal and very frightened of dogs till Diesel entered our lives.
In the following six months, small steps were taken towards growing their friendship and learning that he could easily wrap us around his paws for when he needed snacks and enjoying the comforts of his bean bag, which was a far cry from the hessian bag he grew up with.
Daily routines developed from Diesel sitting on the bathroom mat when Mat was showering
And always joining us at the dinner table for those extra scraps that may fall or be handed to him under the table.
No alarm clocks were ever needed Diesel would do his morning jump onto Mat’s bed and give him a morning lick and then I had the pleasure of morning kisses also.
If Mat was outside so was Diesel close by making sure things were as they should be
There were 3 occasions when Mat had wandered from home and sure enough, they were always found together and people were always amazed at his loyalty to Mat never leaving his side.
The stories are endless and the house is not the same without you here our best friend and companion.
