After-hours and same-day pet collection

Call 0493 814 474. It is answered by Alby, not a call centre, at any hour of the day or night.

There is no after-hours surcharge and no weekend surcharge. Same-day collection is available in most of our service area, and if you would rather wait until morning, that is completely fine.

Where we collect from, and when

For companion animals, we collect from Port Macquarie in the south, north to Ballina, and west to Nana Glen — homes and veterinary clinics alike, seven days a week.

For horses and large animals, our reach is much wider: Brisbane and the Gold Coast, through the Northern Rivers and Mid North Coast, into the Hunter, Greater Sydney and the Southern Highlands, and west to Tamworth and New England.

What to do while you wait

  • Move your companion somewhere cool and quiet, away from sun and heating.
  • Lay them on a towel or blanket, on their side, legs gently folded.
  • Let other pets in the home see them if they want to.
  • Take whatever photos or keepsakes you would like. We include a paw print and fur clipping regardless.

If it is the middle of the night

You are allowed to wait. There is no medical urgency and nothing goes wrong overnight in a cool room. Many families prefer to sit with their companion and call us in the morning, and we would never rush that.

If you would rather they were collected straight away, we will come. Either choice is right.

Questions families ask us

Can you collect a pet at night?
Yes. We collect seven days a week including nights and weekends, at no extra charge. Call 0493 814 474 at any hour.
Is there an after-hours or weekend surcharge?
No. The published package price is the price whenever you call and wherever you are inside our service area.
How quickly can you get here?
Same-day collection is available across most of our area. Timing depends on distance and what else is already booked, and we will give you an honest window on the phone rather than an optimistic one.
Can I wait until the morning?
Absolutely, and many families do. Keep the room cool and quiet overnight and call us when you are ready.

  • They dropped everything to be here the day I lost my boy.

I could not recommend Alby and Rachael highly enough to take care of your beloved fur family. The empathy and support they provide is second to none. They made an already difficult process so reassuring. And I trusted them to take the best of care of my boy.…

  • Treated with such kindness from the very first call.

Alby and the Harbourside team were so kind and compassionate when we lost our beloved Lydian. From the first phone call we felt looked after — nothing was rushed, nothing was outsourced, and every detail was handled with such care. Having him returned home to…

  • They understood she was family, not ‘just a bird’.

Our cockatiel Pippa was with us for 18 years — through three house moves, two kids growing up, and every morning coffee on the verandah. When she passed I was nervous about ringing around because some places really do treat small pets like an afterthought.…
