How much does pet cremation cost in NSW?
Short answer: at Harbourside, individual cremation with your pet's ashes returned starts at $430 and runs to $585 depending on the urn and keepsakes you choose. Collection-only, without ashes returned, is $250.
There is no travel surcharge anywhere in our service area, no after-hours fee, and no separate charge for the paw print, fur clipping or certificate — those are included in every package.
What actually changes the price
- Whether you want ashes returned. Communal cremation (no ashes) is always cheaper; individual cremation costs more because your companion has the chamber to themselves.
- Which urn or keepsake you choose. This is the single biggest variable, and it is entirely your call — a scatter tube costs far less than a timber box.
- Weight, for very large dogs. Most crematoriums charge in weight bands. Ask any provider where the bands start and end.
- Whether the provider charges for travel, after-hours collection, or the certificate. We do not. Many do.
Why some quotes look cheaper than they are
The two things to check before comparing any two prices: is my pet alone in the chamber, and is the ashes return included in that figure?
Words like 'private' and 'partitioned' are used loosely across the industry — some providers use them to describe several pets in one chamber separated by a divider. If ashes matter to you, ask that question directly and get a plain answer.
The other common gap is collection. A low cremation fee with a per-kilometre collection charge on top can end up well above a flat, all-inclusive price.
