Bear

Bear. Bear bum. Bear square. Bearest of the bums.

I don’t know how to say goodbye to you when you were only five. You were supposed to be here for so many more years. 🥺

You were my boy. My shadow. My protector. My best friend.

Our hearts are shattered into a million pieces.

You loved the boat and car trips. You loved playing hide and seek. You loved cuddles and being close. You loved belly scratches. You always had a fluffy toy nearby, bringing it to us with that big waggy tail - so proud, and so happy.

What we’ll miss most though is just having you there. You were safe. You were home.

I hate that we have to let you go when every part of me is screaming to keep you here.

But you went downhill so fast. 😞 you fought hard and gave us a bit more time. I would give anything for just one more day.

You loved with every part of you, and I hope you knew how completely we loved you too.

I hope wherever you are, there’s water for you to swim in, fluffy toys for you to carry around, tennis balls for you to destroy and all your favourite foods.

I promise to find you again, Bear man.

Until then, we’ll carry you with us.
