Horse cremation in Australia — what owners actually need to know

How individual equine cremation works, what happens on collection day, and how to plan access, timing and vet coordination on a working property.

Horse owners are usually the most prepared people we speak to about everything except this. Very few know what happens after a horse dies, because nobody talks about it until the day arrives.

  • Individual cremation with ashes returned — full or partial return, in a scatter tube or a handcrafted timber memorial.
  • On-property removal without ashes returned.
  • On-property burial, where your local council permits it.

Collection day on a working property

We arrive at an agreed time with our own float and equipment. We screen the area where we can so other horses, family and staff aren't distressed, and we work quietly. If you want to be present, be present. If you'd rather say goodbye and walk away, that's equally right.

Planning ahead saves the worst of it

  • Walk your paddock imagining a float: firm ground, gate widths, a turning circle.
  • Talk to your vet in advance about timing windows.
  • Decide who will be there, and who will handle the herd afterwards.
  • Choose what comes home with them — a halter, a mane braid, a hoof impression.

Why cost is quoted, not listed
